Circle (ex Falcon) - Post-Kapitalismus
Before I realized that this is kind of their shtick, this band confused the hell out of me. The track featured here is decidedly not heavy, which is a departure from plenty of their other releases. So much of a difference, in fact, that I thought I was encountering a Spotify bug, like I had with another track I've featured here before.
Nope, they're just special.
Circle has been working out of Finland since the early 90s, and I apparently ought to be embarrassed that I haven't heard of them, as they're a pretty big deal in the Finland alt scene. They (meaning Jussi Lehtisalo, the common denominator in every Circle release) change their line-up (and arguably their name) as often as their sound, but the one thing you'll find on most Circle releases is repetition. Get it?! Also, they're known for unloading an unbelievable amount of material at any given time.
I have not done enough homework to tell you what's worth listening to from their entire discography, but I will say that Post-Kapitalismus is awfully nice if you're due for your dose of acoustic guitars.
All of Leviatan is enjoyable in the same way Junip's stuff is. Not all relaxed material is boring, necessarily. I just wish I could find the lyrics. I'd like to drift off into a summer's nap by the ocean assured that I'm not condoning something terrifying and horrible along my way to dreamytown.
