Borealis - Streamsnare

I present to you an exception to my rule that I know whether I like a track by listening to a mere four seconds of it.  Granted, these are four evenly distributed seconds.  A few seconds to see if there's a hook, if no hook, we cut about thirty seconds, then scan through and check in every minute or so to see what's happening.  You'd be surprised at how successful this method was in creating sets for radio.

Now, Streamsnare very nearly slipped through the cracks and was fortunate to come to me when I was disappointed by the previous thirty-or-so songs I'd just heard.  I gave it some space on my February playlist on a whim.  Maybe I liked the cover art.

It ended up sneak-attacking me and leading me on a snaredrum adventure through all of February.  Yep, you need the good speakers for this.

You love Drumline, right?  (Asked and answered; everyone loves Drumline.)  You will love this track.  The buildup here is exciting in itself.  The call-and-response coming in at 3:00 gives it heart.

Every second of this is worth our full attention, until 5:00.  At that point, DJs, there's an excellent opportunity for beat matching/sampling.  This is yet another track out of the running for Best of '14, and came to me after '13 was already drafted.  Though I wasn't super into Borealis' 2013 release, Glittervoice, at first, this made me give it a second look.  I'm so glad I did.

Now, be careful, Spotify users.  This is NOT the same unfortunate group also named Borealis that released Fall From Grace.  THIS Borealis is Jesse Somfay, an Ontario producer, and this is his second release under the moniker.  Someone ought to resolve that issue on Spotify...

If this now has you in the mood for more percussion, fear not.  I've got you covered, baby:
